2007 CHILDREN AND YOUTH FORUM ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING

5-8 JUNE 2007, VIENTIANE, LAO PDR

 

The Children’s Forum was held in Vientiane and participated by 24 children from 4 provinces. The children had opportunity to present their recommendations to the representatives from the Task Force and Secretaries to the COMMIT. 

Some of the recommendations are: We respectfully request the government to establish a central-level special taskforce to follow up on trafficking-related work that local police do and to motivate local authorities to strictly enforce the laws and regulations; we respectfully request the formation of a unit that directly provides counseling on trafficking-related issues to children, young people and victims; We respectfully urge all authorities, including international agencies, to give opportunities to victims to be involved in the dissemination of trafficking information.
