Cambodia National Forum

The Cambodia National Youth Forum

The Cambodia National Youth Forum was held in Phnom Penh from 13-15 September 2010. 80 young people, representing 138 of their peers from 15 provinces / municipalities in Cambodia, came together for three days to share their experiences of human trafficking and migration and develop recommendations on how to combat human trafficking in Cambodia.

These recommendations were addressed to Government Ministries in Cambodia, UN agencies, national and international organisations working in counter-trafficking and civil society. World Vision Cambodia, one of the organisers of the Forum, worked with youth delegates to develop their recommendations, using creative arts methods. The recommendations included developing educational materials on human trafficking prevention for primary and secondary schools, establishing more safe shelters for victims of trafficking and sexual abuse, increasing the monitoring of recruitment agencies to ensure safe working conditions for migrants, improving training for police officers on counter-trafficking laws and increasing livelihood support programs for poor communities.
